A little history...

St. Mark’s can trace its history back to
the fall of 1887 when a congregation of
seven began meeting at the corner of
14th Avenue and Margaret Street in
North St. Paul. A small wooden church
was soon erected and on June 27, 1890,
the fledgling congregation was officially
incorporated.
In 1952 a new brick church
was built in it's current location.  The new
sanctuary was dedicated in 1989.

About St. Mark's

St. Mark’s is an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) congregation in the Saint Paul Area Synod. Our purpose and mission statement drives our decisions and guides our life as a faith community - what we believe God is calling us to do.

Purpose and Mission: Bringing Jesus to people and people to Him
We do this through
excellence in three important areas: worship, education and relationships.

Excellent worship
Gathering in worship is central to our faith and life. Celebration of Word and sacrament is thoughtfully combined with other elements of worship to create inspiring and meaningful worship experiences. Multiple worship times and diversity of expression in music, liturgy and and media provide choices to meet varying needs. Prayer, both individually and together, is an expression of our relationship with God and is woven into the fabric of St. Mark's.

Excellent education
Learning is essential to a dynamic and deepening faith. A growing understanding of the life given in Jesus Christ illuminates our daily walk. Learning opportunities are offered for all ages and levels as part of a life-long path of growth.

Excellent relationships
Relationships are at the heart of our ministry and reflect God's relationship with His creation. We are a Christian community that connects people of all ages with God and with one another, in informal and intentional ways, such as small groups. We are each uniquely gifted for ministry and opportunities to share ourselves, our resources, our faith, and the love of Christ with a variety of people.
