Tanzania Mission Project

2004
St Marks continues it's relationship with Kihesa Lutheran Church in Iringa Tanzania. The next group of travelers consists of 15 youth and 9 adults. Four of our party are returning for a second visit. 24 of us will board a plane on March 15, 2004 with a final destination of Iringa Tanzania.

The group has been preparing for this trip for over a year, conducting educational meetings, group builders and fund raisers.

We have done bake sales, a rummage sale, auctions, soup Sundays, plastic pink flamingos, Chocolate Chip Cookies and other creative things to raise money to support our ongoing mission.

2002
St. Mark's Lutheran Church commissioned nine of its members on Sunday, Feb. 24 to serve as our Mission Team to Tanzania. This team embarked on a journey to Iringa, Tanzania, marking the beginning of a relationship with Kihesa Lutheran Church of the Iringa Diocese. St. Mark's members visited the country from Feb. 28 - March 16, 2002.

The goals of this trip were to establish a relationship with the Kihesa congregation, experience their ministry, hear about their needs, and begin the steps to help them build a youth center for their church and community.

This visit is the beginning step for a commitment that will last for at least the next three to four years.
